Continuing professional development

The Danish Association of Certified Translators and Interpreters (DACTI) has introduced continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for its members to ensure continuing skills maintenance and development in accordance with the Bylaws of DACTI, article 4(4).

Standards for continuing professional development (CPD):

All members of DACTI must provide translation and interpreting services of the highest standard in which customers, the public and recipients of interpreting and translation services, including Danish and foreign authorities, can have confidence. It is therefore important that members keep up to date within their fields of expertise and maintain and develop their professional skills, including subject knowledge as well as language and technical skills, within the fields to which their translation and interpreting assignments relate.

Consequently, to maintain their status as an active member of DACTI and the right to call themselves a member of DACTI, they must provide documentation showing that they have pursued continuing professional development by taking part in courses, relevant conferences, network meetings and other professionally relevant events offered by DACTI and other relevant organizers.

All members are required to earn 20 CPD points over a period of two years. The accrual period expires at the end of each odd-numbered calendar year. The earning of points is randomly checked by drawing lots among members. If a member has earned too few points in a given period, the member must earn – and provide documentation for – the missing points within a period of six months from the Board’s request in order to maintain their status as an active member. The points earned during the six-month period will not count towards the member’s points for the next accrual period.
